Privacy Policy

We keep privacy straightforward. This policy explains what information SiteDiet may collect, why we use it and the choices you have when you use our website, Website Health Check or contact us.

Who we are

SiteDiet provides website health checks, website optimisation and, where suitable, conversion of existing websites to lighter static websites. In this policy, “SiteDiet”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to the operator of the SiteDiet website and services.

If you have a question about this policy or how we use your personal information, please contact us through the Contact page.

Information we collect

The information we collect depends on how you use SiteDiet. If you contact us, this may include your name, email address, phone number, business name, website address and anything you choose to include in your message. If you use the Website Health Check, we process the website address you enter so that the check can be carried out.

Our website and hosting providers may also process ordinary technical information needed to deliver and protect the website, such as IP addresses, browser information, request logs and security data.

Website Health Check

When you enter a website address into the Website Health Check, SiteDiet sends that address to the Google PageSpeed Insights service so that performance data can be returned and translated into the SiteDiet report. The check concerns the website address you submit - you should not enter personal or confidential information into this field.

SiteDiet does not currently create a customer account or intentionally store Health Check results in its own database. The services used to deliver the check may process technical request information in accordance with their own privacy and security practices.

Contact enquiries

When our contact form is enabled, we will use the information you provide to read and respond to your enquiry, discuss a possible project and, where appropriate, prepare or administer work you ask us to carry out. Please only provide information that is relevant to your enquiry.

We may use a specialist form or email service to deliver enquiries to us. Before the form is enabled for public use, this policy will be checked against the final provider and configuration.

Why we use your information

Depending on the circumstances, we may process personal information because it is necessary to respond to a request or take steps towards providing a service, because it is necessary to perform an agreed service, because we have a legitimate interest in operating, securing and improving SiteDiet, or because you have given consent where consent is required.

We do not sell personal information.

Who we may share information with

We may use trusted service providers to host and operate the website, run the Website Health Check, deliver contact enquiries, provide email or other essential business services, and help keep SiteDiet secure. We only share information where it is reasonably necessary for those purposes or where we are required to do so by law.

Some service providers may process information outside the UK. Where data protection law requires safeguards for an international transfer, we expect the relevant provider to use an appropriate legal mechanism.

Analytics and cookies

SiteDiet uses essential browser storage to remember the privacy choice you make on this website. This preference storage is necessary so that we can respect your choice and avoid asking you again on every page.

With your permission, SiteDiet also uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to help us understand how visitors use the website, for example which pages are visited and how people interact with the site. Google Analytics is optional and is not loaded unless you choose Accept analytics. If you choose Reject analytics, SiteDiet does not load the Google Analytics tag.

You can change your decision at any time by selecting Privacy choices in the footer. If you later reject analytics, the new choice applies to future analytics activity in that browser. Google may process analytics information in accordance with its own privacy and security practices.

How long we keep information

We keep personal information only for as long as it is reasonably needed for the purpose for which it was collected, to maintain appropriate business records, or to meet legal, accounting or security requirements. Retention periods can vary depending on the nature of the enquiry, project or record.

Keeping information secure

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect the information we handle. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, but we aim to limit the information we collect and use reputable services appropriate to the task.

Your data protection rights

Depending on the circumstances, UK data protection law may give you rights over your personal information, including rights to access it, ask for inaccurate information to be corrected, request deletion or restriction, object to certain uses, and ask for information to be transferred. Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw that consent.

You can contact us through the Contact page to make a privacy request. You also have the right to raise a concern with the UK Information Commissioner's Office if you are unhappy with how your information has been handled.

Other websites

SiteDiet may link to websites operated by other organisations. Their privacy practices are outside our control, so you should read the privacy information provided by the relevant website or service.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when SiteDiet's services, suppliers or legal obligations change. The latest version will always be published on this page and the date above will be updated when material changes are made.
